Please be advised that teachers will indicate if an interview is required. If the ‘Interview Required’ box has not been ticked, you may still book an interview. We are aware that parents appreciate interview days as an opportunity to connect with their child’s teachers.
Parents please be aware of travel time between buildings when booking your interviews. We have not allowed consecutive bookings to avoid disappointment if arriving late to an interview that may not be able to be re-scheduled.
Parents have access to the booking system from 4.00pm on Friday, 1 March until bookings close at 12.00noon on Friday, 15 March.
See below for more detailed information:

ALL YEARS - HARMONY WEEK – MONDAY, 18 MARCH - FRIDAY, 22 MARCH
Harmony Week – Everyone Belongs
Harmony Week is a week to celebrate Australian multiculturalism. It is an opportunity for all Australians to embrace cultural diversity and to share what we have in common.
Our cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are. An integrated multicultural Australia is an integral part of our nation's history and character.
As part of this National Celebration event, Perth Modern will run a number of events during Week 8, Monday 18 March - Friday, 22 March.
Please see the event flyer below for full details.
The school cafe will also be selling special items available for order on the online order list.
Harmony Week - Free Dress Theme - Friday, March 22
Students are welcome to wear multicultural dress or accessories or wear the event colours Orange or Red. If students would prefer to wear their normal school uniform this is ok.
Please consider some of the safety aspects of wearing appropriate clothing for the activities and classes students are participating in on the day e.g. having hair tied back in D&T, enclosed shoes. Please consider respectful clothing on this day too.
ALL YEARS - COMMUNITY DAY THURSDAY, 28 MARCH
Community Day is a chance for the school community to come together, create a sense of belonging, build relationships and do something with meaning and purpose – raise money for charity.
Date: Thursday, 28 March 2024 (Week 9)
Time: Recess, Period 3 and 4 and Lunch
Charity: Fostering Hope Australia
Dress Up Theme: Fiction. Students are permitted to dress-up on the day. Costumes are to be appropriate to the occasion, and in line with the School Uniform policy.
Appropriate footwear must be worn, as per the uniform policy. Students are not obligated to dress according to the Community Day theme.
Food: there will be food stalls with a delicious range of treats available. The School Cafe will also be open and operating normally.
Krispy Crème Donuts
Boxes of assorted or glazed donuts can be purchased. These must be purchased via the QKR app by 14 March. Individual donuts can be purchased on the day.
Buy Your Community Dollars Now
On Community Day, students will be able to spend ‘community dollars.’ Community dollars can be purchased through the QKR app from Friday, 23 February. Community dollars can be spent at the stalls on the day. Students can also purchase community dollars from the Finance Desk up until Wednesday, 27 March. Community dollars will need to be pre-purchased before the day (if students wish to purchase more on the day, they can do so from the Finance Desk in the Andrews Building.) Stalls can only accept community dollars.
Please note: The proceeds from this day will go to Fostering Hope Australia; there will not be any refunds of unspent Community Dollars.
Community Dollars will be handed out on the day, prior to Community Day starting.
All Community Dollars (spent and unspent) will go into a raffle to win exciting prizes. (Students can add their name and advo to the back of the ‘dollars’ to go in the draw)
WE NEED YOUR HELP
We are still looking for a MAJOR raffle prize, as well as smaller ones. Please support this excellent initiative or ask your employers if they would sponsor a prize, so that we can raise more funds for Fostering Hope Australia! Students who purchase Community Dollars will go into a draw to win one of the prizes.
Possible Prize ideas: Bicycle, PlayStation, Vouchers for Officeworks, BigW, Target, Food Vouchers etc.
Please email John.O’Loughlin@education.wa.edu.au if you would like to contribute a prize, or you can drop off at the Finance Desk. Donors will be publicly acknowledged in the school newsletter and social media.
Thank you for your support of this fun school event!
Fostering Hope Australia
Fostering Hope Australia’s mission is to support children in “out-of-home” care (foster care and kinship care arrangements). We also support remote WA communities and other charities by:
-
Gathering donated goods (clothing, toys, nappies, school bags and more) and providing them to children and families (at no cost)
-
Organising child child-focused Fostering Joy events for children in care, to promote joy and togetherness
-
Providing new suitcases to children in care through our Fostering Journey program
ALL YEARS - UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
As Term 1 is well under way, the School wishes to communicate the high standards expected of students wearing the Perth Modern School uniform. The uniform builds community, our reputation, and our continuity. We ask that our whole community work together with these aims in mind.
In readiness for the year ahead could you please carefully check your child’s uniforms. Please label uniform items with your child's name, as this helps us to reunite lost uniform items with their owners. Lost Property is currently full of unlabelled uniform items. Please contact PerthModern.StudentServices@education.wa.edu.au to seek help with a lost item.
Specifically, please note the navy school track suit pants are an item that should not be worn during Terms 1 and 4. These are only ok during the cooler weather in Terms 2 and 3. Students can wear any of the other items available including:
- Dark navy knee-length shorts
- Dark navy trousers
- Dark navy knee length skirt
- Dark navy kneed length dress

Due to security restrictions, bags larger than A4 (including handbags) are not permitted in the venue. We ask students to carry their personal items and lunch in a small day bag. It is recommended that any student who has experienced recent personal road trauma or road trauma within their family or friends do not attend the event - please email sarah.lightfoot@education.wa.edu.au if you feel that your child should not attend.
