ALL YEARS - COMMUNITY DAY THURSDAY, 28 MARCH

Community Day is a chance for the school community to come together, create a sense of belonging, build relationships and do something with meaning and purpose – raise money for charity.

Date: Thursday, 28 March 2024 (Week 9)

Time: Recess, Period 3 and 4 and Lunch

Charity: Fostering Hope Australia

Dress Up Theme: Fiction. Students are permitted to dress-up on the day. Costumes are to be appropriate to the occasion, and in line with the School Uniform policy.

Appropriate footwear must be worn, as per the uniform policy. Students are not obligated to dress according to the Community Day theme.

Food: there will be food stalls with a delicious range of treats available.  The School Cafe will also be open and operating normally.

Krispy Crème Donuts

Boxes of assorted or glazed donuts can be purchased. These must be purchased via the QKR app by 14 March. Individual donuts can be purchased on the day.

Buy Your Community Dollars Now

On Community Day, students will be able to spend ‘community dollars.’  Community dollars can be purchased through the QKR app from Friday, 23 February. Community dollars can be spent at the stalls on the day. Students can also purchase community dollars from the Finance Desk up until Wednesday, 27 March. Community dollars will need to be pre-purchased before the day (if students wish to purchase more on the day, they can do so from the Finance Desk in the Andrews Building.) Stalls can only accept community dollars.

Please note: The proceeds from this day will go to Fostering Hope Australia; there will not be any refunds of unspent Community Dollars.

Community Dollars will be handed out on the day, prior to Community Day starting.

All Community Dollars (spent and unspent) will go into a raffle to win exciting prizes. (Students can add their name and advo to the back of the ‘dollars’ to go in the draw)

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are still looking for a MAJOR raffle prize, as well as smaller ones. Please support this excellent initiative or ask your employers if they would sponsor a prize, so that we can raise more funds for Fostering Hope Australia! Students who purchase Community Dollars will go into a draw to win one of the prizes.

Possible Prize ideas: Bicycle, PlayStation, Vouchers for Officeworks, BigW, Target, Food Vouchers etc.

Please email John.O’Loughlin@education.wa.edu.au if you would like to contribute a prize, or you can drop off at the Finance Desk. Donors will be publicly acknowledged in the school newsletter and social media.

Thank you for your support of this fun school event!

Fostering Hope Australia

Fostering Hope Australia’s mission is to support children in “out-of-home” care (foster care and kinship care arrangements). We also support remote WA communities and other charities by:

  • Gathering donated goods (clothing, toys, nappies, school bags and more) and providing them to children and families (at no cost)

  • Organising child child-focused Fostering Joy events for children in care, to promote joy and togetherness

  • Providing new suitcases to children in care through our Fostering Journey program
