Dear Parents and Caregivers

I would like to share some personal news with you. On September 16, I will be undergoing a heart valve transplant and will be taking leave until the end of the year to focus on recovery.

I want to express my deep gratitude to the staff and families of Perth Modern School for your tremendous support, kindness, and encouragement during this time. Your care has meant a great deal to me.

During my absence, Robyn Verboon will step into the role of Principal, and I have every confidence in her leadership and commitment to our school community.

Although I’ll be away from my regular duties, I plan to stay in touch with the school and hope to visit during Term 4. I look forward to returning refreshed and ready to commence the 2026 academic year.

Thank you once again for your understanding and support.

Warm regards

As part of Department of Education requirements, Semester 1 reports at Perth Modern School will follow a new format this year.

For students in Years 10 to 12, reports will include:

  • a Semester Mark
  • an Exam Mark
  • a Semester Grade
  • ABE ratings (Attitude, Behaviour, Effort)

For students in Years 7 to 9, reports will include:

  • Semester Grade
  • ABE ratings

Please note that individual teacher comments will no longer be provided for any year group. Instead, a general comment from your child’s Year Coordinator will appear at the end of the report, highlighting key activities from Semester 1.

We trust families have had the opportunity to connect with teachers during recent Parent Review Days. If you require further clarification after reviewing the report, please don’t hesitate to contact the relevant teacher. We value our partnership in supporting your child’s learning.

Please read the description of the new ABE ratings here. Reports will be emailed to families in the coming weeks.

ALL YEARS - YEAR 10 DRAMA PRESENTS 'ANIMAL FARM' 23 AND 24 JUNE

Year 10 Drama Presents: Animal Farm
A powerful allegory of power, propaganda, and resistance.

Dates: Monday 23 & Tuesday 24 June, 7:00 PM
Venue: Casey Theatre
Tickets: $5 – Available at www.trybooking.com/DCRMB

Year 10 Drama students proudly present Animal Farm, a gripping adaptation that explores how noble ideals can be twisted into tools of control. As both performers and designers, students bring to life a rural world infused with historical propaganda and modern relevance.

Guided by a collaborative directorial vision and grounded in Lee Strasberg’s Method Acting, the cast delivers emotionally rich, human portrayals of the animals’ hopes, fears, and betrayals.

This thought-provoking production challenges audiences to reflect on authority, media manipulation, and the power of education in resisting ignorance. Animal Farm is a timely reminder of the importance of civic awareness and critical thinking.

We look forward to welcoming you to this unforgettable performance.
