You may have read in The West Australian on Saturday an article regarding Perth Modern School. 

The article references a Work Design and Wellbeing survey provided by Regional Office that took place in October 2020 and coincided with our planned staff survey on wellbeing as featured in our Business Plan 2020-2024. The survey completed by staff at Perth Modern School was confidential. The survey identified many areas of strength and, as in any organisation, areas that we can work together to improve. The school welcomes department staff into the school to help us understand the nature of the concerns. It is disappointing that this information was sent to The West Australian placing this matter into the public domain before the school’s leadership team had the opportunity to work with all staff to address any concerns.  

In 2020, a very small number of staff raised some concerns with our Regional Office. As is common in any large organisation, some staff may have concerns from time to time. We are working with Regional Office to understand the nature of these concerns and to respond where appropriate. We are incredibly proud of all of our staff including school leaders who work tirelessly to support our students. This was particularly evident in 2020, when COVID-19 created highly anxious and unprecedented times. As always, we at Perth Modern School are committed to supporting our students to participate in an outstanding educational journey.
