SCHOOL HOURS AND LATE ARRIVALS/LEAVING EARLY PROCESS
School Hours
We do ask that students arrive at school from 8.15am and exit the school grounds from 4.30pm. Staff are not on site outside of these hours therefore students will not be supervised or supported outside of this time frame unless they are attending an organised activity such as music rehearsals and sporting practise.
Late Arrivals and Leaving Early
All students are required to sign in at Student Services if they arrive late to school. Students must present a completed note from a parent in the back of their diary to Student Services to obtain a Leave Pass when leaving the school early.
Year 12 Process
Year 12 students with a Leave Pass are welcome to exit the school grounds during a free or study period. Students are required to tap out at an Academy portal. Students who have a scheduled class following a free period are expected to tap back in at an Academy portal.
Students who are required to leave early for an appointment or if they are feeling unwell during a sheduled class are to follow the same process as all students and sign out at Student Services with a note. A Leave Pass cannot be used in the situation.
Be Alert
Please remind your child to be alert of their surroundings when travelling to and from school.
It is advised that students travel in groups where possible and follow well lit paths if they are travelling home from after hours activities.
Safe Crossing
Many students use public transport to and from school and are therefore required to cross busy roads around the school.
Students are to cross where it is safe on marked footpaths and islands and only when the appropriate green signal is present at traffic light crossings.
Parking Do's and Dont's
We ask that you use the dedicated drop off zone on Roberts Road or Subiaco Road to pull in and drop your child off in a safe and timely manner.
Hamilton Street and Mueller Park next to the school also have road side parking where students can safely be dropped off and walk into the school.
Please do not park in the drop off zones or on the basketball courts. This is for the safety of your children and so no damage occurs to cars.
We of course encourage the use of Public Transport options where possible.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT SAFETY ETIQUETTE
Parents are requested to talk to their child about the importance of Public Transport Safety Etiquette. Please remind them of the following issues:
- Be aware of others around them and watch the noise level and language used.
- Students are expected to stand and offer their seat to an adult as they are travelling on a concession card.
- Do not congregate around doorways to allow other easy access for others on or off and no rushing to be first on or off.
- Be mindful of where school bags are placed so as not to trip up other communters or block pathways.
Please also remember that as they are travelling on a subsided fare, they must stand for other passengers.
Lockers are available for all students. It is recommended that students keep all valuables such as money, mobiles and laptops in their lockers when not in use.
Students are requested not to leave items above or below lockers. Please be aware that the school does not accept responsibility for the security of any person’s valuables.
We encourage students that ride to school to ensure they have a robust lock on their bike such as the D lock style.
Cyclists must wear a secure helmet and have at least one brake and a warning device (bell/horn) working and adhere to the road rules.
Students can also use https://bikelinc.com.au/ to register their bike details.
