You may have read in The West Australian an article regarding Perth Modern School.

The news article references a staff wellbeing survey provided by Regional Office that took place in October 2020 and coincided with our planned staff survey on wellbeing as featured in our Business Plan 2020-2024.

The School has not received the results of this survey.

Please note the following statement by Jim Bell, Deputy Director General Student Achievement, Department of Education:  

“The survey completed by staff at Perth Modern School was confidential. As it relates to matters regarding their health and wellbeing it is important that information from the survey is communicated in a considered and appropriate manner. This will occur in the near future.”

We respect the right of staff to communicate with the Director General. It is disappointing no communication regarding this occurred at the school level and that this letter was sent to The West Australian placing this matter into the public domain before the school had the opportunity to work together to address concerns of what we understand to be from a small number of staff.

We are incredibly proud of our School. Staff work extremely hard to support students, and as always, we at Perth Modern School are committed to providing an outstanding educational journey for all our students.
