This is Education Department policy and is to protect student privacy and comfort.

ALL YEARS: ENSEMBLE ATTENDANCE
Thank you to all the students who have been so patient as we transition to a tag-in system for ensemble rehearsals. Students are asked to to let Ms Roy know if they are umnable to tag in for any reason at perthmodern.music@education.wa.edu.au
Before and after school rehearsals are an integral part of the music curriculum, and should be treated as such, therefore if students are present at school during the day they should also attend the ensemble rehearsal. Please note that if a student is absent from rehearsal, parents/caregivers should email perthmodern.studentservices@education.wa.edu.au with the reason, and cc your ensemble director(s). This will ensure that students do not receive an unexplained absence notification from the school.
ALL STUDENTS: E-SAFETY AND DIGITAL FOOTPRINTS
As part of the curriculum, when using the internet, we encourage students to have a safe, positive experience online and to be aware of their digital footprint. Please discuss with your child their online interactions. Include in your conversations school apps like Connect and OneNote, different social media platforms, and email communications. A useful website to assist parents and students is www.esafety.gov.au.
ALL YEARS: PUBLIC TRANSFPORT SAFETY AND ETIQUETTE
Public Transport
Parents could you please discuss with your child about appropriate behaviour on public transport:
- Be aware of others and watch the noise level and language used
- Students are expected to stand and offer their seat to an adult
- Do not congregate around doorways to allow easy access for others
- Be mindful of where school bags are placed so as not to block pathways or trip up other communters.
Road Safety
Please reiterate to your child to be conscious of their surroundings and cross at controlled intersections such as cross walks and traffic lights. It is important that they only cross when it is safe to do so.
ALL YEARS: CONTAINER FOR CHANGE BINS
At Perth Modern School we collect containers for change to support school programs run through the Sustainability advocacy. On the Progress Review Day on Tuesday, 23 March please feel free to bring along refundable containers and use the bins provided.
Some parents have asked why we receive seven cents per container instead of the full 10 cent refund. This is because our school collection process uses a commercial provider to collect our bins. We hope to register for the Containers for Change scheme directly, and will advise the Scheme ID in due course. That way, containers can be taken directly to a collection centre and the full 10 cent refund would be credited to the School.
Thank you for your support
