ALL YEARS: ABSENTEE PROCEDURES
Late Arrivals and Leaving Early
All students are required to sign in at Student Services if they arrive late to school. Students must present a completed note from a parent in the back of their diary to Student Services to obtain a Leave Pass when leaving the school early.
Absentees
To advise the school of absences, please email or SMS the Name of student, Advocacy and Reason for Absence.
- Email the Student Services absent line: perthmodern.absentees@education.wa.edu.au
- SMS the Absentee number: 0409 109 784
To improve our communications with parents and to ensure that our attendance records are accurate, Student Services will be sending out a weekly letter identifying unresolved absences (per period or day) and late arrivals for their child. If you receive one of these letters, please assist the school by completing the instructions on the letter. We thank you for your assistance.
ALL YEARS: HAVE YOUR CHILD'S DETAILS CHANGED?
It is of vital importance that student details are accurate and up-to-date. Parents are reminded that you must contact the school at perthmodernschool@education.wa.edu.au if there are any changes to student or parent information that is held by the school.

Any parent/caregiver entering the school ground must sign in and out at reception upon entering or exiting the school grounds.
Parents are not permitted to take photos on site and at school events

ALL YEARS: MUFTI DAY FRIDAY, 26 MARCH - PURCHASE YOUR MUFTI DAY DOLLARS
When: Friday, 26 March.
Mufti Day is a wonderful fundraising initiative, run by the students for the students. In 2019 we raised over $6500 for The ‘Smith Family’ charity. Students will be in themed dress, with the 2021 theme to be announced soon!
Students will pre-purchase ‘mufti dollars’ to spend on the day at food stalls and activities (to avoid having large sums of cash in the school on the day). Students will only be able to purchase from stalls using their pre-purchased ‘mufti dollars’.
For convenience, parents can pre-purchase ‘mufti dollars’ via the QKR App (under the all years tab) from Monday, 22 February to Monday, 22 March. The mufti dollars will be delivered to students during Advocacy, prior to Mufti Day. Students will also have the opportunity to purchase the dollars at lunchtimes during the week of the event.

ALL YEARS: FREMANTLE LINE TRAIN CLOSURE - MAJOR IMPACT
Major impacts on the Fremantle Line are taking place from the evening of Friday 5 February to the last service on Monday 5 April.
If students travel weekdays between the Showgrounds and Fremantle stations, you will need to change trains at Cottesloe Station and prepare for an increase in travel time due to the reduction in train frequency. Trains have been planned to connect at Cottesloe Station, however passengers should allow up to an additional 30 minutes when travelling. Transperth bus replacement services will also be in place up until the suburb of Shenton Park where the works finish. Please see the Transperth link below to view the full details of the closure and the bus replacement services.
You can also estimate the students journey time via the bus replacement services on the Transperth website link below.
ALL YEARS: PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND ROAD SAFETY
Public Transport
Parents could you please discuss with your child about appropriate behaviour on public transport:
- Be aware of others and watch the noise level and language used
- Students are expected to stand and offer their seat to an adult
- Do not congregate around doorways to allow easy access for others
- Be mindful of where school bags are placed so as not to block pathways or trip up other communters.
Road Safety
Please reiterate to your child to be conscious of their surroundings and cross at controlled intersections such as cross walks and traffic lights. It is important that they only cross when it is safe to do so.
YEAR 7 STUDENTS: YEAR 7 CAMP WEDNESDAY, 26 MAY - FRIDAY, 28 MAY

Parents and caregivers of Year 7 students are advised that the Year 7 Camp will be held in Week 6 of Term 2 from Wednesday, 26 May to Friday, 28 May.

The P&C AGM including Friends of Music (FoM)
Invitation to All Parents
New Date: Tuesday, 16 March 2021
Time: Commences at 7.00pm
Where: McCusker Board Room - Beasley Building
The P&C is a parent and citizen volunteer group with a focus on community building and fundraising for the school. We encourage parents to attend and would like especially to welcome new Year 7 parents.
The requirements under the P&C constitution require that people be paid-up members and attend the AGM in person to become a member ($1 per annum) so we encourage as many as possible to come along. Election of office bearers will be held at this meeting.
Please find the recent Principal's Report to the P&C from Tuesday, 16 February 2021.
Call for Year Group Social Coordinators
Would you like to consider getting to know fellow parents in your year group? Each year wonderful parents volunteer to be Year Group Social Coordinators so we are calling for volunteers to put their hand up for 2021!
Come along to the P&C AGM and nominate as a social representative for your year group. If you are unable to attend the meeting, email the P&C president@perthmodernpandc.com.au with your willingness to nominate for this position prior to the meeting. It is an excellent way to get to know the school community, including the parents of the peers of your teens.
It is great if we can have more than one representative, ideally between 2-4, as it helps get around unexpected family and work issues when you have organised an event. Suggestions for meet ups include early morning parent coffee catch ups, a parent dinner at a restaurant to align with students’ annual social events, a family picnic etc.
Previous social organisers are happy to have a chat about what is involved.
Next Second Hand Uniform Shop
Next Opening Date Monday, 22 February 8.30am - 12.00pm
