YEAR 12-11 ATAR STUDENTS: WACE EXAMS
Candidates should download their Personalised practical examination timetable and Personalised written examination timetable from the SCSA student portal. This will ensure that candidates have all information required for planning travel arrangements to examination venues and equipping themselves appropriately. Candidates MUST NOT present at an examination venue with COVID-19 symptoms. A paper copy of this timetable needs to be taken with you to all WACE exams.
The Authority has contingency plans in place should a venue become unavailable due to a COVID-19 related reason. Candidates must re-check their timetable in the student portal the day prior to the scheduled examination date to ensure that all details relating to their examination, particularly the examination venue, are the same and have not been changed. Candidates are reminded to provide their contact mobile number via the student portal.
YEAR 12-11 ATAR STUDENTS: MOBILE NUMBERS TO SCSA
For the first time, Year 12 students and Year 11 examination candidates will be required to provide their mobile numbers to the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA, the Authority) via the student portal, using their eight digit WASN. It is intended that when students log into the student portal to download their personalised examination timetables for the written and practical ATAR course examinations that they update/provide their mobile numbers. Should the Authority need to contact students during the examination period, this will be done via a bulk SMS.
It should be noted that students can only update their mobile numbers in the student portal and this can not be done by the school on your behalf.

Students transiting into Year 12 on Monday, 9 November and any accelerated students studying a Year 12 subject in 2021, please note that the 2021 Year 12 Resource List is now available on Connect via the Library in Perth Modern School My Spaces and on the Perth Modern School website.

YEAR 12 STUDENTS: POST SCHOOL INTENTIONS AND STUDENT SATISFACTION SURVEY
There are still a number of Year 12 students yet to complete the Post School Intentions and Student Satisfaction Survey. The survey normally takes 5-10 minutes to complete. We ask that you please complete this survey at your earliest convenience. More information regarding the survey can be found by clicking on the link provided below. Perth Modern's Year 11 ATAR Drama students proudly present HOODS and invite you to come along.
Hoods by Angela Betzien is a contemporary synopsis of Hansel and Gretel.
Each night two hoods ride a train to a wrecking yard on the outskirts of the city. Here, in this cemetery of stories, they are the storytellers with the power to fast forward, pause and rewind. Tonight, they tell the story of three kids left in a car. Rewind.
It's Friday, KFC night and the last day of school before Christmas. Kyle, Jessie, and baby brother Troy are waiting in the car for their mum. As night approaches the car park takes on a dark and sinister aspect filled with strange and familiar characters. The shopping centre closes, Mum still hasn't returned, and the baby won't stop crying.
Exploring issues of poverty and family violence, Hoods is a suburban tale of survival and solidarity against the odds.
Please note, this production of Hoods runs for approximately 50 minutes with no interval. We have a strict lockout policy and late arrivals will not be admitted.
ALL YEARS: PHYSICAL EDUCATION HAT POLICY
A reminder that during Physical Education lessons in Term 4, all students are required to bring a hat to class for sun safety. Can parents please check that hats are labelled clearly with the name of their child.
ALL YEARS: NO PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
Please be advised that photography or video is not permitted on school grounds. This Education Department policy is to ensure the comfort and security of students and staff. We thank you for your understanding.
Individuals found to be infringing on this policy may be asked to leave.
ALL YEARS: ATTENDANCE AND LATE ARRIVALS
To improve our communications with parents and to ensure that our attendance records are accurate, from Term 4 Student Services will be sending out a weekly letter identifying unresolved absences (per period or day) and late arrivals for their child. If you receive one of these letters, please assist the school by completing the instructions on the letter. We thank you for your assistance.
ALL YEARS: PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND ROAD SAFETY
Public Transport
Parents could you please discuss with your child/ren about appropriate behaviour on public transport. Please remind them of the following issues:
- Be aware of others around them and watch the noise level and language used.
- Students are expected to stand and offer their seat to an adult as they are travelling on a concession card.
- Do not congregate around doorways to allow easy access for others on or off and no rushing to be first on or off.
- Be mindful of where school bags are placed so as not to trip up other communters or blocking pathways.
Road Safety
Please reiterate to your child/ren to be conscious of their surroundings and cross at controlled intersections such as cross walks and traffic lights. It is important that they only cross when it is safe to do so.

It is important to note that there is no accommodation remaining for Leavers 2020 in the Southwest region. Police advise do not travel down South unless you have accommodation confirmed.
Parents and students should download the free Leavers App or visit the LeaversWA official website (the link can be found below) for the latest information on events, getting around, and tips to stay safe. The app will also send you up-to-date notifications on what's happening at your Leavers location while you're there.
Parents and Year 12 students should make informed decisions about participating in leavers activities and take responsibility for themselves and their peers. Also consideration should be given to make sure there is suitable transport to and from the destination with a safe and reliable driver. Check that the vehicle is also safe.
Discuss plans with friends, brothers, sisters and parents or guardians. Make sure they know the student’s contact details and accommodation so that they can get in touch when necessary.
