ALL YEARS: SCHOOL UNIFORM UPDATE
School uniform is an important part of being a student at Mod. It teaches students to dress smartly and have pride in their appearance. The school uniform helps build a sense of belonging and the sense that we are all here together. It creates an identity for the school in the community, and by wearing it appropriately, it demonstrates the school’s value of Respect for Self. The school is a multicultural campus and appropriately wearing the uniform demonstrates the school’s value - Respect for Others - our fellow students. It also teaches students the appropriate standard of dress for a ‘business casual’ work place and supports a transition to a young adult ethos. The school uniform allows all students to fit in regardless of circumstances.
Please find attached the latest PMS Uniform Policy. This includes only items currently available and will be updated toward the end of the year.
Recent changes to the policy regarding items for Senior School and changes to the jacket have been consulted through the P&C, School Board and student groups. Changes to the girls concert dress have been consulted through the Music Department and Friends of Music. The Uniform Policy has been endorsed by the School Board.
The Uniform Shop and the Second Hand Uniform Shop are available to assist with items to be purchased. Parents experiencing financial hardship with regards to the uniform should contact Student Services for assistance.
All students are required to observe the Uniform Policy. The school provides students with many opportunities beyond the curriculum and ask that students Respect the Space – by wearing the uniform appropriately. Students have been made aware of the consequences of loss of Good Standing if the policy is not adhered to. Students are expected to wear the formal uniform to formal assemblies, school events and co-curricular activities where appropriate, Sphinx breakfasts, school photos, meeting members of the community and other events as requested.
New clothing items for 2021
New items for senior students; a girls skirt and boys shirt, are designed to encourage a sense of identity as a senior student and to support the young adult ethos.
The jacket for all years will be changed to a more stylish, sleek design suited to all day wear with the outdoor tour jacket used outside only from 2021.
The concert dress will be changed to a top and trousers.
New items will be advertised to parents and students later in the year and will be optional next year for existing students.
ALL YEARS: THANK YOU TO THE P&C AND FRIENDS OF MUSIC FROM THE GREASE CAST AND CREW

Thank you also to P&C President Phil Marshall for his support, Friends of Music Convenor Nicola Peiris and all the parents who volunteered to help serve. Your support is greatly appreciated. – Grease cast and crew.

ALL YEARS: SPRING AKA HAY FEVER SEASON
Spring aka “hay fever season” has arrived. Many students suffer with itchy eyes, sneezing, runny nose and other irritating symptoms. Please see your GP or pharmacist for advice on suitable treatment for hay fever. Please remind your child if they have hay fever to carry a day’s supply of medication with them to school. Asthma and hay fever are closely linked, and approximately 80 per cent of people with asthma also experience hay fever. Research has shown that treating hay fever can help to reduce acute asthma exacerbations.

Please find the recent Principal's Report to the P&C from Tuesday, 1 September 2020.
P&C Report
On Tuesday, 1 September the P&C was pleased to approve expenditure for two new items for our school;
- $7423 approved for new drone kits for the STEAM program. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths) The demand for the existing drones has been fantastic and over-subscribed so these new kits will allow more access for our students. Students use the drones to delve into modes and simulation, learn to create video footage, and apply programming and coding. These will be a great addition to the Innovations component of the STEAM curriculum
- $9792 approved for a range of ottomans for the Mills building. Currently students are sitting on the floor in large groups before school, during recess and lunchtime. The space is very popular so these ottomans will provide additional availability for groups of students to interact and socialise. They will also provide additional support for breakout classroom and collaborative discussions.”
What the P&C have supported
The P&C have supported the purchase of an Interactive Panel for Design and Technology and Science Engineering valued at $4,700.
This new interactive panel is to be used to integrate ICT into the majority of its classes for teachers and students to collaborate and to show techniques using all the Autodesk software packages, share student directed classroom activities.
GREASE - A big thank you
A big thank you to our Grease Production drinks and nibbles volunteers for a fun social event and community contribution to the school and our kids. The Grease production was superb, made even more so with the drinks and nibbles, a great way for families and school community members to mingle and catch-up.
A very special thank you to Sharon Williams, our 'organiser extraordinaire' who gave hours of her time to pull the drinks and snacks together and motivated the teams!
As you can see from the long list below it takes a lot of effort to make these activities successful - so again a big thank you to:
Phil Marshall, Lynne Greenaway, Kelley Trawinski, Brian Hubbard, Karen Phillips, Christian Caspelherr, James Willoughby, Nicola Peiris, Nasirah Hemy, Rebecca Wong, Megan Trench, David Barton, Chris Bowden, Thomas Miao, Chune Ren, Karen Phillips, Shantelle Vukojevich, Troy Vukojevich, Thu Willoughby, Peter Caulfield, Claire Mahoney, Peter Sartori, Amanda Sinclair, Alicja Judd, Sharron Falconer.
And a big shout out to the school who were tireless in their support - thank you to Thalia, Brianna and Karen and all who we worked with in preparing for the event.
