WELCOME BACK TO OUR STUDENTS FOR TERM 2
Perth Modern staff have enjoyed welcoming back the majority of our students this week. It has been fantastic to see the students' smiling faces at school along with their enthusiasm and excitement as they reunited with their peers and returned to somewhat of a normal school routine.
The staff have been working diligently to support the return of students and look forward to the opportunity of creating rich learning experiences and opportunities. Staff are aware of the important of proper hygiene practises and have been provided with hand sanitiser for use in the classroom. We look forward to a tremendous Term 2 ahead and welcoming back the rest of our students in due course.
ALL YEARS - ANZAC COMMEMORATION VIRTUAL SERVICE
At the end of Term 1, Perth Modern School created a virtual Anzac Commemoration as our traditional whole-school assembly was not possible due to Covid-19 restrictions. The service was filmed to be shown later to students once they could return to school.
During class this morning, the students watched the commemoration that had been filmed and stood for a minute’s silence to honour the fallen soldiers and especially our fellow Perth Mod soldiers.
I’m sure you’d all agree it was a terrific effort by all those involved. We would like to acknowledge those who were for their roles in creating a very moving ceremony; we also thank the students who came into school during the holidays for filming so that we could be assured of continuing the proud tradition of honouring the school's fallen soldiers.
Please take some time to view the commemoration via the link below, the duration of the video is 25 minutes and watch right until the end to see the grand ending by our very talented Wind Band 1 students.

ALL YEARS - GOOD HYGIENE PRACTICES
Whilst it feels somewhat normal to be back at school, please remind your child to practise good hygiene in and out of the school environment. All staff have hand sanitiser for the students to use in each classroom.
ALL YEARS - MOBILE PHONE POLICY OFF AND AWAY
As announced by the State Government in 2019, students in government schools will not be able to access their mobile phones during class time or at recess or lunch. Mobile phones need to be switched off and put away in school bags or in student lockers. Students are also not to use headphones in class unless it is part of a designated classroom activity. If you must contact your child during the school day, you will need to ring the school for a message to be relayed. Students will be able to switch their phones on at the end of the school and check for any messages. Thank you for your support regarding these regulations.
Alternative approaches to Community Service are being explored. Students are advisd to keep up to date with the Student Daily Notices.
