ALL YEARS - FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Caregivers
I would like to share some personal news with you. On September 16, I will be undergoing a heart valve transplant and will be taking leave until the end of the year to focus on recovery.
I want to express my deep gratitude to the staff and families of Perth Modern School for your tremendous support, kindness, and encouragement during this time. Your care has meant a great deal to me.
During my absence, Robyn Verboon will step into the role of Principal, and I have every confidence in her leadership and commitment to our school community.
Although I’ll be away from my regular duties, I plan to stay in touch with the school and hope to visit during Term 4. I look forward to returning refreshed and ready to commence the 2026 academic year.
Thank you once again for your understanding and support.
Warm regards
Mitchell Mackay
Principal

The increased pollen in the air can trigger symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and asthma. Hay fever is a common and debilitating condition affecting an estimated 1 in 5 Australians. Hay fever is caused by the nose and/or eyes coming into contact with environmental allergens, such as pollens, dust mites, moulds and animal hair. Please remind your child if they have hay fever to carry their medication with them to school.
Some of the symptoms of hay fever include;
- Frequent sneezing
- Runny, itchy or blocked nose
- Itchy, watery eyes
- Itchy roof of the mouth
- Headache
If hay fever is left untreated, it can lead to poor quality sleep and tiredness which can affect your child’s concentration and learning.
Seek advice from your pharmacist or GP about medications that will relieve symptoms.
