ALL YEARS: ALL PARENTS PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE COMPASS APP
From the beginning of this year, parents have had access to Compass. This is now the main platform of communication the school will be using going forward and all parents will need to have it downloaded. As Compass enables multi functions all in one, other systems will be phased out. The Compass App is available on iOS and Andriod devices, simply search for Compass School Manager in store.
NOTE: the School will keep sending regular Information Updates out to the whole school community via email.
Using the app you can:
- View the school news feed
- Receive messages from the school
- View your child's timetable and the school calendar
- View Learning Tasks
- Book Parent Teacher conferences
- Add Attendance Notes
- View academic reports
- See details of excursions, provide payment and give consent
Please view the attached guideline for parents. If you are having any issues, please contact the school via perthmodernschool@education.wa.edu.au and note the issue you are encountering.
The School's Anzac Service will be held on Wedesday, 26 April at 12.20pm.
ALL YEARS: UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
Please remind your child of the uniform standard as per the uniform policy. The Uniform Policy is available on Connect via the Library in Perth Modern School My Spaces. Some common errors by students, which staff have been asked to correct in Term 2, are:
- PE Uniform should be worn for specific classes only (PE, dance, drama). Students should be wearing regular day uniform for the remainder of their classes including travelling to and from school unless they have Period 1 PE or Period 6 PE.
- Hem length is appropriate for school, approximately knee length or just above.
- Shoes should be all black. Following a recent change, shoes are no longer required to be leather; however, they must be all black. White or coloured soles and/or logos are not acceptable.
- Additional non-school items, such as jumpers or tracksuit pants, are not allowed. Students are requested to remove them and/or seek an alternative from Student Services.
Students who are not wearing the correct uniform will be asked to change into correct uniform. If a student does not have the correct uniform on their person, they may borrow uniform items from Student Services on a short-term basis.
Uniforms can be purchased from Lowes on site Uniform Shop (Monday and Thursday 8.00am until 11.00am) or the Second-Hand Uniform Shop, based in Lower Andrews (next opening on Friday 28 April 8:30am to 1:30pm). An infringement will be given to students who are not wearing the uniform correctly. Subsequent infringements will lead to further consequences including, but not limited to, detentions and Loss of Good Standing.
Your assistance in supporting the school’s uniform policy is appreciated.
Label All School Uniform Items
Parents are reminded about the importance of labelling your child's possessions including all uniform items so they can be returned to your child if collected by Lost Property. Please label clearly with their first and last name as well as their advocacy group. Unfortunately, without a name on the item we cannot ensure your child's property is returned. Items held in Lost Property are only held for one month and if unclaimed will be donated to the Second-Hand Uniform Shop.
Year 7 Camp will be held on Wednesday, 31 May to Friday, 2 June at Woodman Point, Coogee.
Many activities will be on the agenda including rope climbing, raft building, team building as well as planned night activities.

The camp will be fully catered and dietary requirements will be accounted for, no additional food will be required. NO DEVICES will be allowed. If parents need to contact their child, the staff will have a phone number which will be commuicated to parents closer to the camp date.
We can't wait for the fun and to build on a Sense of Belonging amongst the staff and students.
