ALL YEARS: FROM THE PRINCIPAL - FREE RAT TESTS
Dear Parent/Caregiver
Thank you once again for your continued support as we manage COVID-19 cases as they arise in the school community.
I wish to advise that free RAT tests for each student have now been delivered to the school.
These RATs will support our students to continue to attend school and will minimise disruption to their schooling. You will be able to test your child at home if they are feeling unwell. You can also use these RATs if your child is a close contact to enable them to test daily and continue to attend school, as long as they receive a negative result, remain asymptomatic, and wear a mask.
We will start handing out these RATs as follows:
- Years 9, 11 and 12: Thursday, 12 May during Period 4.
- Years 8 and 10: Friday, 13 May during Advocacy.
- Year 7: Thursday, 19 May during Period 4.
Tests are not be opened at school by students. Please note that RATs are labelled ‘Keep out of Reach of Children’ as a TGA requirement. As such, these RATs should not be opened by children and when used, must be either supervised or performed by an adult.
If your child is away when the distribution happens, we will contact them to organise an alternative collection date.
What to do if your child becomes symptomatic
Your child should stay home and be tested for COVID-19. You should notify the school if your child tests positive for COVID-19. Refer to healthywa.wa.gov.au for information on close contact definition, testing and isolation requirements.
Our new email address for all COVID-19 related information is: PerthModern.CovidSupport@education.wa.edu.au
Thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our school COVID-19 safe.
Mitchell Mackay
Principal

UNICEF Australia - UNICEF is the United Nations Children's Fund, working in 190 countries for the survival, protection, and development of every child, with a focus on the lives of children who are the most disadvantaged and excluded. We will specifically be contributing to the Ukraine Emergency Appeal.
ALL YEARS - ARE YOU USING THE QKR APP?
A reminder to parents that the 2022 Charges & Contributions or any current events/excursions can be paid anytime via the Qkr App including during school holidays.
ALL YEARS: KEEPING VALUABLES SAFE
Students are reminded that valuables left in school bags are not guaranteed safe, and it is important not to leave bags unattended. Students should leave valuable items at home or in their locker.
Students with bicycles at school are requested to use a sturdy D-lock rather than the cable wire ones. D-locks make bikes much harder to steal. Student Services have purchased a number of D-Locks for students to borrow in Term 2.
Also, please register your bike at Bikelinc Australia, which helps return stolen or lost bikes to the owner.
ALL YEARS: PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN THESE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Vaccinating children is one of the best things parents and carers can do to keep them safe from COVID-19.
Most young children with COVID-19 will experience mild symptoms, but some children may get very ill or end up with long term illness.
Help them to stay doing what they enjoy, and prevent disruptions to their learning, sport and activities. These are important for children’s general wellbeing.
Visit Roll up for WA or Vaccine Clinic Finder to find and book your child’s COVID-19 vaccine today.
