SCHOOL'S THINK TANK COMPETITION 2022
The Perth Modern School HASS Department is seeking expressions of interest from Years 9 and 10 students who would like to be part of this year’s school team in this extra-curricular competition. The challenge for the team is to find an innovative solution to the following question:
We care about the environment in which we operate. How can we prepare for the future?
The school's participation in this competition is not yet confirmed and is dependent on enough committed students to form a team and school approval. Participation is free for all students, with the winning team awarded a school prize of educational resources to the value of $1,000.00.
Commitment required:
- Attend an initial expression of interest session (lunchtime approx. week 7) to find out more and confirm commitment as well as form team.
- Subject to school approval, attend 2-3 lunchtime learning and preparation sessions during Term 2.
- Collaborate with other team members in preparing the team's pitch presentation (Term 2/3).
- Attend and participate in the pitch presentation (Tuesday 2nd August - Term 3).
- If successful, attend and participate in the final in Term 4.

- Exposure to the design thinking methodology - empathise, define, ideate, prototype and test
- The platform to create innovative solutions to tackle environmental issues for the future

- Development of networks through interaction with peers, industry professionals and community
- Understanding of how innovators perceive opportunity, manage risk, organise resources and add value.

YEARS 7-8 AUSTRALIAN GEOGRAPHY COMPETITION
AUSTRALIAN GEOGRAPHY COMPETITION 2022
All Years 7 and 8 HASS students have been entered into this prestigious competition by the school. The competition will be conducted in HaSS classes MONDAY, 28 March. This year, the competition will be conducted online via the Education Perfect Portal. As for all classes, Years 7 and 8 students are asked to ensure that they have their device with them for their HaSS class on this day and that it is fully charged.
