YEAR 11 - FOCUS DAY WEDNESDAY, 5 MARCH
Year 11 Focus Day 2025 Wednesday, 5 March
The Focus Day purpose is to embrace the Perth Modern School Thriving Minds model through engaging with guest speakers, wellness activities and the Year 11 theme, ‘Sense of Direction'- to investigate individual opportunities. Thriving Minds is a whole school wellbeing approach based on the PERMAH model including each of the 6 domains, Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment and Health.
The Focus Day activities are selected to support healthy lifestyle choices to inspire and empower students to take responsibility for their own health and encourage lifelong habits of wellness, enabling them to thrive. It gives students a chance to consider different perspectives and challenge stereotypes on behaviours, expectations, and traditional wellbeing activities.
In this transitional time, the Year 11 students are becoming the role models of the school. It is more important than ever to savour these moments where students can enjoy the company of their peers beyond the classroom, building the foundation of positive wellbeing, becoming the best versions of themselves together to leave a lasting positive legacy.
Please consider the following by academics in the field of Positive Education when encouraging your child to attend:
- Poor school connectedness results in poorer academic and mental health outcomes for students. (Bond, et al., 2007)
- Positive school experiences are connected to positive long-term outcomes, such as being less likely to engage in risk-taking behaviours, and a strong sense of preparedness for their personal aspirations. (Furlong, Gilman & Huebner, 2014)
Cost for each student is $41. Information will be sent via Compass Events. This is a compulsory event.
