Dear Parent/Caregiver

Welcome back to all our families for Semester 2.

I would also like to give a very special welcome to all our students and families who are joining our school for the first time this semester.

Throughout the first two weeks of this term, we have celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of our students in the first semester of this year. We acknowledged those who excelled in various subjects at Perth Modern School. These celebrations go beyond academic success to appreciate community service and participation in the broader aspects of the community. Engaging in diverse school activities helps students develop crucial skills like communication, leadership, and empathy. Our goal is to equip all students not only to participate in the world but also to lead, innovate, and propel society forward. Congratulations to all our award recipients. As we enter Semester 2, let's continue to build on our progress and strive for excellence in all our pursuits.

Next week 7-10 August the school also will be presenting a major musical theatre performance of The Addams Family. This is an opportunity for more than hundred of our students to participate in an amazing opportunity to develop their confidence and create an experience for the whole Perth Modern School community. Our term began with our parent teacher afternoon and evening with many of our parents taking the opportunity to meet with their children’s teachers and working in partnership with the school to support their child’s educational journey. This was followed by the professional learning day for teachers, where all teachers explored teaching and learning strategies for gifted students and also students with neurodiversity. Perth Modern School is an incredibly complex and positive environment that supports students in their desire to be exceptional. Our teachers are very dedicated and take their profession and the care for our children very seriously.

Throughout this Semester we have students visiting China, Japan, New Zealand, Canberra and NASA in the USA. These students are competing in world championship competitions and also representing the school in music, science, humanities and languages.

Our Year 12 students are entering the final term of their ATAR studies. Over the school holidays many students sat entry examinations for medicine and were also busy exploring entry into universities across Australia.
