ALL YEARS: E-SAFETY
ESafety Online Support Information for Parents
Please monitor children’s online groups, practice open communication, and offer support should they need to talk about an experience.
Specifically, it is best if students only interact through smaller groups, where they know the other people and identities are not masked.
Years 7 to 9 students find this space new and exciting, however, their online social interactions can still be guided or supported by parents.
Larger online communication groups like whole year cohort Discord or WhatsApp groups can be problematic.
Esafety has a web site dedicated to providing information on how to ensure a safe online environment for children.
There is also helpful information to guide parents when issues arise including Reporting Abuse.
Sometimes, when students are involved in online groups they may experience a situation that is not a positive one.
We would encourage anyone in this situation to seek help and this web page is an ideal place to start.
At Perth Modern we have multiple programs set up to assist students to create positive experiences online, however, should these or the eSafety resources not help your child in their situation, they are more than welcome to seek support from the Student Services team at school - PerthModern.StudentServices@education.wa.edu.au
