As announced by the Minister for Transport this week, the Armadale/Thornlie Line will close from Monday, 20 November 2023 until mid-2025 as part of METRONET's Victoria Park - Canning Level Crossing Removal, Byford Rail Extension and Thornlie-Cockburn Link projects. 

Rail revitalisation works will also be happening between Kenwick and Sherwood stations, and Welshpool Station will close permanently at the start of the shutdown due to low patronage.

During the shutdown, there will be no train services between Armadale/Thornlie and Victoria Park. Trains will continue to operate between Victoria Park and Perth stations, with seven new and five enhanced bus routes introduced to the bus network to support existing timetabled services.

Passengers are encouraged to view the New and Enhanced Bus Routes map (please note only major routes are shown on the map) and plan ahead. Timetables will be available from September and the Transperth JourneyPlanner and app will be updated approximately four weeks prior to the shutdown.

We understand that the construction works and the shutdown itself will introduce disruption to the community and would like to assure you that extensive consultation has been undertaken as part of the planning process to understand transport and community needs.
