Dear Alumni and Friends,

Once again I write to ask for your help.

Please take the time to read our brochure and consider our request.

The Museum Association was formed specifically to financially support the preservation, conservation and exhibition of school artefacts and records for the benefit of current and past students, their families and the wider community.  Since 2019, we have successfully secured grants totalling $8,000 to supplement our donated funds for specific conservation and some administrative purposes.  In order to continue to modernise access to our museum exhibits and collections and to digitise even more of our archival records, we need to continue to appeal to the interest and generosity of our alumni and the wider community with whom we seek to honour the history and share the heritage of Perth Modern School.

In 2023 we particularly look forward to your generosity. For the past two years, Roger Stubbs and Alison Woodman have focussed their extensive volunteer time on collecting stories and photographs in order to record a history of the Specialist Music Programme at Perth Modern School (commenced in 1968). Along the way, we’ve all recognised that schools become so intent with the day to day work of supporting and extending students, that the retention and archiving of materials (like concert programs, diaries of activities) is very limited. The work of historians requires much patience and detective work – but becomes incredibly rewarding. At last, in April of this year, the text and photographs that will become the book “Music at Mod” have been handed to the design publishers. We are anticipating a book launch in the second semester of this year. However, designing, publishing and printing a book is an expensive activity – so that your generosity is especially precious in this year.

Meanwhile, our band of energetic and enthusiastic volunteers have continued their work. You can also be part of this inspirational journey through your financial or in person support for the Perth Modernian Society Museum Association Inc.

We are all looking forward to a particularly eventful and productive year. You are very welcome to visit the museum on Monday mornings during the school term or by appointment. Please consider volunteering with us.
