ALL YEARS: CHAPLAIN CHAT
Greetings from the Chaplain, Natalie
It's Week 7 already and there is a pleasant buzz here at Mod! It’s been a great start to the year and students have mostly settled into the new year well without too many obstacles. Well done!
The fabulous image below that I came across recently explains exactly my feelings of how we can carry too many thoughts in our head and in turn life becomes ‘heavy’.
Last year I visited all the Year 8 Health classes to talk to the students about our Student Services team and how important it is to seek help from a ‘trusted adult’ when our heads get heavy with negative thoughts. It has been proven that by talking to someone, getting your thoughts out of your head and sharing your story, it lightens your load and can relieve stress significantly. Everyone needs help from time to time. It’s normal and part of our own ‘self-care’ to ask for help. With the increasing awareness now around mental health issues amongst young people, it is imperative that we break down the negative stigma around seeking help and talking about our concerns. Let's encourage each other and our young people to reach out and ‘talk’ when life gets heavy.
