YEAR 11 AND 12 STUDENTS: EQUITABLE ACCESS ADJUSTMENTS FOR WACE EXAMS
Equitable Access Adjustments (formerly Special Examination Arrangements) ATAR 2023
The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) recognises that individual students may need special arrangements to allow them to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding in assessment/exam situations.
SCSA have very strict guidelines regarding Equitable Access Adjustments and requires a formal diagnosis and supporting documentation that demonstrates the student’s current functional impairment, including:
- diagnosis of the medical condition and/or disability
- date of diagnosis
- date of occurrence or onset of the condition
- details of symptoms, treatment or course of action related to the conditions
- how the condition impacts on the student accessing a timed assessment (examination)
- recommended adjustments, based on the provisions outlined in the policy, with reasons for the request and supported by appropriate standardised assessments.
An application for Equitable Access Adjustments ATAR 2023 is made by the school to SCSA in conjunction with the student, parents and health professionals and must be submitted to the school by Friday, 24 March (Week 8), 2023.
